Operation Neptune 2010

Operation Neptune is a WW2 re-enactment event organised on the beaches of Skegness, Lincolnshire. As part of the event marketing, LincWeb Design was tasked with developing a website which allowed the organisers to share information with potential visitors and exhibitors. As well as an online gallery from previous events, the organisers also requested that they be able to post news and updates on the homepage, as well as updating other areas of the site, for example exhibitors in attendance.

Also part of this assignment was search engine optimisation. The organising team behind the event were keen for the website to be found easily using common search engines. With this in mind, LincWeb set about optimising the site for Google, as well as the other major players in the Search Engine market. Within two weeks of the site's launch, the number one spot on Google had been achieved for relatively generic search terms such as "Operation Neptune event" and "Skegness WW2 re-enactment". This was largely achieved by combining our most tried and tested SEO techniques.

Also as part of the event's marketing, LincWeb Design was tasked with designing A5 leaflets advertising the event as well as its 8-page programme. The programmes will be sold at the event to help raise money for the forces charity, Help for Heroes.

Here's a list of the techniques that this particular project required:

  • Web design
  • Content creation
  • AJAX
  • Search Engine Optimisation
  • JavaScript
  • Graphic and print design
